Two of them. Neither one watches you.

This is a draft, written by us and not by a lawyer. It describes what the system actually does, field by field, so that a lawyer can read it and correct it. It is not legal advice, and nobody with legal training has reviewed it.

The ones we set

This site sets two cookies, and both do a job the site cannot do without:

  • empalyze_locale — remembers whether you read in Norwegian or English. It is set only once you press the language toggle, and lasts a year.
  • empalyze.sid — set when you start a read, and holds the security token that stops the form being misused by someone else. It lasts 24 hours, and your browser lets nobody but us read it.

You can delete either of them in your browser whenever you like. Delete empalyze_locale and you get whichever language your browser asks for next time.

The ones we do not set

There is no analytics tool, no advertising pixel and no tag manager on this site. We store nothing in the browser’s own storage either. There is no cookie here that follows you on to other websites, because there is no third party to follow you to.

One thing belongs here all the same: the typefaces on this page are fetched from Google’s servers, and Google sees your IP address when they are. No cookie is set by it, but it is a connection to Google, and so it should be written down.
